"Fame is a vapour. You can’t grab hold of it."

There are those cherished moments of childhood: summers spent selling lemonade in front of the house, cycling down to the old fishing hole and catching a few crawfish. Oh, who am I kidding? My happiest childhood moments happened in front of the telly. Mr T. taught me to pity the fool, Daleks taught me to fear pepper pots and a young Mork from Ork taught me that people on speedball cocaine are really funny.

But there was one other very important lesson TV had to teach me.

I would sit with my dad and, together, we would watch Wonder Woman − or as my old man called her: Saucepan Ninnies. It’s strange when you look back at your past. Remember how Wham always seemed so cool and so good with the ladies? Or how Batman seemed so ace rather than so camp? Going back sometimes means facing some hard truths.
