Two days before the world's biggest gadget show, many of the vendors – particularly smaller gadget-makers - like to get in early by showing off a sneak peak at their new wares at an event dubbed CES Unveiled.

Parrot AR.Drone v2 – Parrot's AR.Drone made a huge splash at CES 2010 but this year the company has taken the smartphone- and tablet-controlled quadricopter to a new level.

SolarKindle – Dedicated bookworms can use the SolarKindle to charge their Amazon Kindle e-reader whenever they're in sunlight.

Zensorium Tinke – This small device plugs into your smartphone and by simply holding your finger onto it you can track your heart rate, respiratory rate and the level of oxygen in your blood.

OLPC Tablet – The first tablet to be powered by solar cells (or hand crank), the "One Laptop Per Child" tablet builds on the success of the earlier super-cheap OLPC laptops that have brought computing technology to disadvantaged and remote areas, including indigenous communities.

Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook – A swarm of "ultrabook" MacBook Air rivals is expected to be announced at CES, but Acer got in first with the S5.
