A spectacular watch, the Girard-Perregaux Biaxial Tourbillon in white gold takes devotees of rare mechanisms and sophisticated designs through a marvellous history, full of technical feats and aesthetic innovations. The architecture of the straight and finely hollowed bridges was inspired by a pocket watch created in the
1860s by Constant Girard-Perregaux, which won a first class prize from the Neuchâtel Observatory.

The design of these Bridges foreshadowed the final and famous arrow-shaped Bridges. The Bi-axial Tourbillon takes the Tourbillon to another dimension: the cage not only rotates on its own axis but also on a second axis, thus enabling the Tourbillon to take a multitude of positions and ensuring excellent rate precision. With its sober decoration and immediately recognisable straight gold Bridges, the Bi-axial Tourbillon is astonishingly modern.

From the base plate to the tinniest screw, the finishing of the movement is spectacular and can only be achieved by few master watchmakers. The elliptical engraving on the barrel is a reminder of the barrel decoration of the historic pocket watch.

Limited to 33 pieces only in white gold, the Tourbillon Biaxial is among the most spectacular and exclusive pieces in Girard-Perregaux’s offering.

The Bi-axial Tourbillon, combining two concentric cages, enables the regulating part to make multi-dimensional rotations. An internal cage bearing the balance, balance spring and escapement completes one complete turn on its axis in forty-five seconds. An external cage completes one revolution in one minute and fifteen seconds, enabling a rotation on its second axis. A full revolution is completed in three minutes and forty-five seconds. This genuine aerial ballet offers an extraordinary spectacle, while the alternation of positions enables excellent rate precision. The complex mechanism has an astounding delicacy: the two cages weigh just 0.80 grams, yet comprise a total of over one hundred and ten components. A combination of gold, steel and titanium, the cage materials were chosen to provide the best balance and greatest performance.
