For some 20 years, Christophe Claret remained behind the scenes, creating impossibly complicated movements for a roster of high profile clients. Then finally, in 2009, Claret emerged from the shadows to showcase the first watch to bear his name.

The DualTow is a single-pusher planetary-gear chronograph tourbillon, which represents time along two vertical moving rubber belts.

The striking and original design of the DualTow is a bewitching sight and one that embodies all the watchmaking genius of Claret’s futuristic and hi-tech atelier. The left belt carries the hours and the minutes are shown on the right. As the two belts progress upwards at the respective speeds, the time is identified as the numbers slip between two forks.

The single-pusher chronograph system, which is awaiting a patent, operates by means of three identically structured planetary gears, with a striking gong mechanism signalling the start, stop and reset features. The movement also features a one-minute tourbillon, positioned in pride of place at 6 o’clock.
